Smart ED: Electric ninja-mobile

Car Tech | 22 April 2008

Meet the Smart ED, an electric car that's set to revolutionise – or at the very least shake up – the way people get around. It's just like an ordinary Smart ForTwo: quirky-looking, easy to park and nimble, but with a couple of crucial differences. The Smart ED doesn't use any petrol and doesn't emit any nasty, toxic poison into the atmosphere. You simply charge it up over the mains, hop in and off you go.

Ford Focus Titanium 1.8 TDCi: The hatchback gets a facelift

Car Tech | 26 March 2008

In this episode of CNET.co.uk's Car Tech, Rory Reid looks at the 2008 Focus Titanium 1.8 TDCi, which boasts a new front grille, a more muscular rear end and a more dynamic, modern aesthetic. However it's not all improvements. Why is the sat-nav haunted? Why is the main information display the size of a wrist watch? Ford Focus CC-3: Voice-controlled car-bot

Car Tech | 06 March 2008

Not only does it transform from coupe to convertible like some crazy metallic origami gadget on wheels, but pretty much everything inside it can be controlled by your voice. Want to skip CD tracks, change the radio frequency or set the precise temperature in the cabin? Just hit the voice-activation button, say the words, and the Focus CC does the rest...

CES: Kenwood goes to town on a 1956 Chevy Bel Air

Crave TV | 17 January 2008

CNET.co.uk's Rory Reid was caught drooling over this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and for good reason. It may look pretty standard on the outside, but inside it has a fully motorised dashboard. Hit the button on the key fob, and out pops a tray containing an Xbox 360 controller and an iPod nano. From here, you can enjoy a spot of Halo 3 on the 7-inch in-dash display, or bump some 'choons' through the speakers, which seem to be located in every possible orifice of the car.
