Hi, I'm Nate Lanxon and this is Encoded, the music show that's not afraid to be caught with its trousers down.

We start this week's show with the latest video from New York indie-rockers We Are Scientists, who return with their second album Brain Thrust Mastery on March 17th.

Despite drummer Michael "beard of the year" Tapper leaving the band in November to "pursue other things", lead single 'After Hours' sees frontman Keith Murray and bassist Chris Cain pick up where they left off with 2005's 'With Love and Squalor' – meaning fast-paced infectious guitar pop and of course a comedy video.

Directed by long-term collaborator Akiva Schaffer, the video sees the chaps on a double date, with one snagging some flirting minutes with American actress Katrina Bowden, and the other, well, he gets to flirt with her dog.

Also with a new video is smashing Welsh lady Duffy, who we told you about way back in November.

Plenty of you told us you'd like to get 'up the Duff', so here's the video to her second single 'Mercy'. It follows on from the unavoidable 'Rockferry', which established her as pretty much every music journalists 'one to watch' in 2008. 'Mercy' is a much more up-tempo affair than the debut single, but still pushes the 60s soul references. Unfortunately the video is a rather mundane affair... needs more dogs. Head over to www.iamduffy.com to pick up a free download of 'Rockferry'.

Our first free download comes from the original laptop poet George Pringle. By visiting rcrdlbl.com/artists/George_Pringle/music/ where you can download the tracks 'Carte Postal' and 'I'm Very Scared Buster, Yes At Last'. Both these tracks feature on her EP. Also worth checking out is her blog, which features a scanned-in scrapbook.

Also free to download this week is the latest offering from Various Production, whose mix of slowed-down grime, dubstep and 21st century folk music almost bothered the mainstream back in 2006. Alas, it didn't quite do it, and they disappeared back under whichever pile of synths and samplers they came from, but now they're back. You can download Pintman from headphonesex.co.uk.

Finally, we're all familiar with Wayne's World and Later With Jools Holland I'm sure, but new folk troubadour Jeremy Warmsley has taken the unusual step of merging these two musical institutions with his new YouTube channel Welcome to our TV Show. Filmed in his living room, the first episode features the Mystery Jets, Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale, playing tracks and bantering amusingly, and can be found by typing welcometoourtvshow without any spaces into the youtube search facility.

Righto, I've got a date with a Spaniel with a big shiny coat. See you later...
