This is Encoded's brand new Album Focus show, where each week we'll pick out the most exciting release of the week, telling you everything you need to know about the band in a nice little bite-sized chunk.
This week we're going to focus on the new album from LA's synth-punk superstars The Mae Shi, whose album HLLLYH (pronounced Hell Yeah) came out on cool London label Moshi Moshi on Monday.
It's the band's fourth full length album, but the first to be released officially in the UK, and carries on the hectic noise assault of its predecessors. Beeps and bangs pepper the tracks, with repetitive synth lines and drum beats making this as much of a dance record as it is a punk one.
There are four tracks from the album to listen to on their MySpace page, as well as the video to 'Run To Your Grave' and a preview of their debut DVD release Lock The Skull, Load The Gun, where 35 of their most creative friends produced videos for their tracks.
Next week we'll be talking about I Was A Cub Scout and their album I Want You To Know There Is Always Hope, so until then, remember, there IS always hope. kthxbye.
