This week sees Tarantino's Death Proof arrive on DVD, giving us all a chance to see how it fairs on the small screen. Kurt Russell plays the murderous Stuntman Mike, who preys on innocent young women with his souped up, specially adapted Chevy Nova. There's plenty of hip, pop culture-savvy dialogue, shocking moments of blackly funny violence and a groovy collection of 70s tunes on the soundtrack, but is that really enough to class Death Proof as a great film?

Walk Hard is a spoof of the musical biopic, most notably the Johnny Cash movie Walk The Line, but with elements of Ray, The Rutles and of course This Is Spinal Tap thrown in for good measure. It’s the story of Dewey Cox, a good ol' boy from the wrong side of the tracks, and his ascent through the world of country music. John C Reilly gives the character of Dewey far more depth than you’d expect, and embraces the chance to make himself looks ridiculous in nearly every scene.

Steve Jobs once again had the world hanging off his every word this week as he presented the Apple keynote at Macworld 2008 – and once again he delivered the goods, wooing the crowd with the MacBook Air. Measuring 19.4mm at its thickest end and weighing just 1.36kg, it's Apple's thinnest, lightest laptop yet – small enough to fit into an envelope. An early look at the forthcoming movie from those clever chaps at Pixar, probably the most consistent studio working in either animation or live-action film-making today. Not much is known at the moment but Wall-E looks to be another excellent addition to their filmography in a futuristic tale of a lonely robot who discovers his true self. We'd also surprised if there wasn't a Randy Newman song somewhere on the soundtrack.

Little Dragon's 'Test' was released as a double A-side single with 'Twice' on Peacefrog Records. The band are from Gothenburg in Sweden and have quickly found success across Europe – vocalist Yukimi Nagano has sung with Sweden's electronica-jazz outfit Koop, and both Yukimi and drummer Erik Bodin play live with José González.

Guillermo Del Toro returns to directing Hollywood blockbusters after his oscar-nominated success with Pan's Labyrinth. His sequel to Hellboy sees Ron Perlman return as the red demon with a love of cigars, who along with the rest of his clandestine organisation take on more creeping, crawling demons from the underworld. Luke Goss, better known as one of the twins from 80s pop phenomenon Bros, joins the fun as a long-haired demon overlord.

Day Lewis is grabbing plenty of awards attention for his portrayal of Daniel Plainview - a scheming, vicious, backstabbing oil baron who'll stop at nothing to get what he wants - who enters into a battle of wills and wits against a young preacher, played by Paul Dano. Gripping, epic, and with a terrifying score by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, There Will Be Blood is one of the first genuine must-see films of the year.

The next Star Wars game from LucasArts employs next-gen technology to bring the Force to life in an explosive new way. One example of this is a new system that will give non-player characters a sense of self-preservation and the means to act accordingly based on their situation – so a character who is knocked off a ledge could intelligently grab on to the ledge with one or both hands rather than blindly plummet to his doom.
