We may not know much about it, but it does seem to include people screaming, some kind of monster from outer space and New York dramatically exploding. In this exclusive extended clip we get a glimpse of the approaching threat to New York and some rather nifty full-scale destruction.

Former Test Icicle Devonte Hynes, now going under the name of Lightspeed Champion, dropped by CNET TV headquarters this week and treated us to four tracks from his new album, Falling Off the Lavender Bridge. Radically different to the sound of his earlier band, Lightspeed's sound is a wonderful mix of indie rock and country folk influences that should keep fans of Bright Eyes, Will Oldham and Bill Callahan happy until the cows come home.

After the success of Knocked Up, star of that hit, Seth Rogan writes this tale of three teenage friends who embark on a wild night of drink, partying and girls before they head off to college. It may sound like another generic teen comedy but Reel Weekend discovers a surprisingly touching tale which offers much more than it's set up might suggest.

Tim Burton is no stranger to dark gothic fantasy, neither is he shy about putting his favorite actor Johnny Depp in a lead role. Sweeney Todd is the first time, however, that Burton has matched his flair for the visual with a classic stage musical. In adapting Stephen Sondheim's Broadway classic Burton weaves his usual visual magic to tell the tale of The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, who's lust for revenge on those who've wronged him takes the shape of a very close shave and some very special pies.

Crash director Paul Haggis is on the hunt for Oscar with this attempt to address the war in Iraq, and more specifically the effect of that war on its soldiers and their families. Tommy Lee Jones is the father investigating the mysterious death of his soldier son and while it sounds like an oh-so-serious attempt at issue cinema, we reckon that it's worth seeing for one reason alone: the tremendous performance by Tommy Lee Jones.
