Movie Review: Charlie Wilson's War
Reel Weekend | 11 January 2008
Tom Hanks stars in the story of Charles Wilson, a womanising, party-loving Democratic congressman, who in the early 80s led a campaign to arm the freedom fighters of Afghanistan in their fight against the pesky Soviets. Legendary director Mike Nichols works from a script by West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin in a spiky satire that is already attracting awards attention. Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman complete the excellent supporting cast.
CES: Kenwood goes to town on a 1956 Chevy Bel Air
Crave TV | 17 January 2008
CNET.co.uk's Rory Reid was caught drooling over this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and for good reason. It may look pretty standard on the outside, but inside it has a fully motorised dashboard. Hit the button on the key fob, and out pops a tray containing an Xbox 360 controller and an iPod nano. From here, you can enjoy a spot of Halo 3 on the 7-inch in-dash display, or bump some 'choons' through the speakers, which seem to be located in every possible orifice of the car.

Reel Weekend | 20 March 2008
The Orphanage is very much in keeping with producer Guillermo del Toro's brand of chiller, which blends visceral shocks with moving character-based drama. It's the story of a couple who decide to reopen an old orphanage, but find their lives torn apart when their adopted son goes missing. In general it relies on a build-up of tension and uncomfortable psychological anguish rather than traditional shocks, however it does contain one of the single best jump-out-your-seat frights since Carrie decided that being buried wasn't much fun after all...
